Teaching Philosophy
In my art classroom, I strive to create an environment that nurtures and celebrates each student's creativity.
Drawn to elements of nature, I use my own studio practice as a foundation for student's explorations of mixed media. This approach encourages students to connect with their surroundings and share their unique perspectives.
I aim to incorporate subject matter that promotes reflection on students' well-being and enhances their critical thinking. I aim to create a safe space for students to explore their ideas while expanding their understanding of the world, their identities, and contemporary issues.

My units of learning explore themes I am naturally drawn to in my own practice, such as abstracting or depicting elements of nature, exploring multi-media and interpreting our own lived experiences through art.

On my first placement I completed a unit of learning inspired by my own studio practice. My first year class explored the theme of 'Spiralling out of control' through shapes, lines and patterns abstracted from mark making exercises depicting shells.

Drawn to Nature:
My studio work displayed in LSAD's foyee (2024):

Translating this piece into a unit of learning:
Drawing from my 2nd year studio work exploring enlarging elements of nature through multi-media and largescale collage, I used this piece to inform a junior cycle group project. Student's explored collaborative drawing whilst responding to multi-media and the theme of surrounding yourself in a world of enlarged nature.
